I was doing more training with another coworker I just met today and he said he was soon going to be transferring to our company's Phoenix office because his fiance got a job there. After talking for a bit I asked a question about his "wife" and he started using "he" to refer to them and in my head I'm like "oops, I thought for sure he said he had a wife". I didn't remember if he actually mentioned a wife or something else. Of course I didn't catch any of what he was saying since that just threw me off. Later on he did say "fiance" and I'm like "oh, that's what he must have said initially...my bad". That must've been so awkward for him to hear me say that and try to answer with the switch up. I accidentally cut part of my right index finger off with a 1-blade folding utility knife (had to look up exactly what to call it). We were taking a break so I left the job site and pulled into a shopping center parking lot.
