Memory Lane

When I was a freshman in high school, we had a sort of "fun" assignment in English class where we can pick a song and present the lyrics and play the song to the class. I don't remember exactly what the point of it was. (Of note this was one of the classes me and Shahadah shared since we were placed in the same grade for some reason). We had to submit the lyrics to the teacher along with the CD (or cassette in my case). Well at the time I think the only music I had was a Kenny G "best of" cassette that I would listen to sometimes that I got from Mom. For no particular reason I chose the song "By The Time This Night is Over" (song with Peabo Bryson, I don't know who that is). I guess I liked the song and it was one of the few songs on there that actually had lyrics. Well I wrote the lyrics down from listening to it (I don't remember having internet back then to just look up lyrics), so I remember listening to it over and over and writing the lyrics down. When everyone's song was getting played I was getting nervous to come to my song. I don't know exactly why, but I guess I wasn't sure if it was appropriate. We may have even had a printout of all the songs to be played, but I didn't see mine. Everyone's song got played except mine (I think there was less than 10 people in the class so it wasn't a big group). The teacher never approached me about it or anything. She just simply didn't play it. I'm not sure if I was just ignorant or just didn't care, but the lyrics were clearly about making love. I'm assuming that's the reason. I think I was a little relieved she didn't play it. I don't know if we were told who picked what song, so I don't even know if people realized my song didn't get played. Either way I was a little embarrassed, but like I said I was a bit relieved. I wasn't into that assignment at all.
