Memory Lane - I Wrote in to a Radio Show
When I lived in Greenville, I used to listen to a conservative radio station (WORD) and I would sometimes tune in to the Bob McLain Show that would play in the afternoon while I worked. He's a typical conservative host trying to mimic Rush Limbaugh and was anti-Islam and such. I cant stand most political commentators because they're always so biased and they have to back their candidates on every issue no matter what it is. It's funny because i remember on Fridays his intro music was "I Dont Wanna Work", some old fun, silly song that he would sing along with. But during election season the guy who sings the song had a concert and made a comment that he didnt want Trump supporters to come. Bob McLain was upset by this and decided to not play that song anymore because of it. I thought that was hilarious.
Anyway, back in 2014 I was listening to his show and he was talking about Islam and the Quran and how the religion promotes terrorism. I dont remember what exactly was going on that sparked the conversation, but I think it was back when ISIS was a big threat to the world. Well, I've never called into a radio show before or wrote in to one or anything but felt like chiming in. Well this is what I sent in an email:
"Bob,
I'm disappointed that you continue to fall for and propagate this blatant media agenda against Islam. You and others continue to isolate a few verses of the quran taken out of context to push this agenda. If it were true that Islam calls for killing people who wont convert then with all the muslims around the world there would be mass killings everywhere and not just these isolated incidents that I suspect are inspired by the media and backed by the US and Zionists. You see so many so-called converts from American and British backgrounds committing these acts. You don't see regular muslims perpetrating these outrageous acts. If you go to any mosque and ask any Muslim they would be quick to condemn these acts of terrorism. What Isis is doing and all these nuts claiming Islam as their religion is NOT Islam. The Bible has similar verses of violence in times of war and has very disturbing perverted verses in it also. Please stop this attack on Islam!"
I was listening in and I heard him reading my email and I got excited and nervous hearing it. He responded on air to it, but also I was surprised that he responded in email. He just wrote:
"How come these Imam's never publicly speak out against the violence, beheadings, etc?"
I wrote back:
"Thank you for responding. This is partly because most major media sources are controlled by Jews/Zionists and they will not put those people on mainstream media. Its difficult to get broadcasted with that type of media climate"
I dont think he replied on air and I didnt get an email reply either. I never wrote in ever again and havent done anything like that since. It was so out of character for me to write in. I hardly ever interact online anywhere, especially to political stuff. I just felt I needed to speak up. I dont know why I even listened to him. I couldnt stand him. He was so arrogant and sarcastic and his voice was annoying. I kept the radio on that station because there was another conservative host in the mornings that I actually did like, so I would listen to it while in my work truck, and just kept it on the station. Yeah, that was my radio experience.
